A CALL FOR RECONCILIATION
April 9, 2015

Dear CCAM Partners and Friends,

On March 28, at Koh Pich Theatre in Phnom Penh, CCAM participated in the Reconciliation Event marking the 40th anniversary of the Khmer Rouge holocaust in Cambodia. This event represents the fruit of a year-long interdenominational partnership sponsored by The Bible Society in Cambodia. The planning committee, led by Pastor Sok Nhep Arun, included Gioia, Noren, Sophun, and Pastor David, who met periodically with all of the other leaders during the time of preparation.

Encouraged by the enthusiastic welcome of the crowd of four thousand, the CCAM performing team opened the program with “Proclamation Drum Dance,” lyrics based on John 3:16, calling all the people of the world to be reconciled to the One True God! The musical drama, “The Bridge of Peace,” based on the Book of Acts and highlighting the experiences of Stephen and Saul/Paul, was created by a group of Cambodian pastors — Sok Nhep Arun, Barnabas Mam, David Bin, and Uong Rien. Members of local churches served in the intergenerational cast of over 100 people! The creators sought to contextualize their presentation for the primarily Cambodian audience by telling the story through traditional Khmer music and drama styles.

To close the program, CCAM performed “Song of the Bondservants.” The message of this dance, lyrics based on Philippians 2, calls the Church to first be reconciled with God and then with one another, followed by their mutual and wholehearted commitment to follow in the footsteps of Jesus, the Bondservant of God.

For the finale, all participants were invited to the stage for applause. In addition to that, some appreciation plaques were awarded by the Bible Society. Noren and Gioia received an award on behalf of CCAM!

Thank you for your prayers that sustained us, so that we might bring glory to God through our songs and dances of proclamation! Please pray that the Word of God that was proclaimed will continue to accomplish His purposes in the hearts of all who heard it.

Bondservants of Christ,
The CCAMS Family
