Dear CCAM Partners and Friends,
Thank you all for praying with us this past week, asking God to show us a sign by causing the landlady of our only current housing option to reduce the rental fee to $4,000 per month. Yesterday Sophun called the landlady, but after discussing back and forth, she only came down another $500, making the new monthly rental price $6,000. Therefore, there has been no miraculous drop in the cost.
However, there has been progress with these negotiations during the past few months. At the beginning, the landlady said that $7,000 was her final price. Then, when she came down $500, she said that $6,500 was her final price! And now that she has lowered the price again by $500, she says that $6,000 is her final price! Perhaps if we give her some time to reflect on her options, she may continue to adjust the price. So far, no one else has come forward to sign a contract at such high rental rates, and maybe no one else will. In fact, if God has chosen this house for us, for sure no one else will!
Similarly, at the beginning, the landlady said that the house was not for sale. But now she says that she would sell it for 5 million dollars! The house is probably worth 2 or 3 million according to the local real estate values. If a buyer offers her a solid cash deal at a lower price than she is asking, she might accept it, especially if time goes on and no one offers to rent or buy at her exorbitant rates.
The problem for CCAM is that we need to move as soon as possible, and the house in question is also still under construction. So we plan to call the landlady again tomorrow just to make clear to her that $4,000 is the highest we can offer, and to inquire if she might have changed her mind about her final price after thinking it over. If not, we will tell her that now we must turn our attention to finding other housing options, so we will not be calling her anymore. However, we will suggest that, if she is ever willing to rent it for $4,000 per month, to give us a call.
So please keep praying about our housing needs as we start hitting the streets again searching for other options. Sometimes God allows us to discover what doesn’t fulfill our need before He miraculously provides what does (Genesis 2:18-23).
Still waiting on the Lord to clarify His perfect will for us,
The CCAMS Family
